Music forty years in the making

John Chisum is not a newcomer to making great Christian music. His first year in Nashville garnered nearly twenty recorded songs as a new songwriter, landing him a job as a publisher for the iconic likes of Bill and Gloria Gaither. Growing up to become VP of Publishing for Star Song Media and then Integrity Music, John managed the publishing of the much-loved worship songwriters Paul Baloche, Don Moen, and many other notables, and all while penning and publishing over 400 of his own compositions. He has traveled to many other parts of the world, made over ten of his own recordings and appeared as worship leader on two Integrity Hosanna! music recordings, making him a beloved global worship leader.

A new season of songwriting

Taking time away from his own writing and recording to build Nashville Christian Songwriters over the last nine years, John is currently experiencing something of a spiritual and musical renaissance. Determined to show the world it’s never too late to be who you want to be, even in music, John is releasing a single every month in 2024. With styles ranging from modern worship to pop/CCM to folk-based tracks, John shows his vocal versatility and continued dedication to exceptional lyric writing in a digital culture of watered-down content.

Worship and healing

John’s dual themes of worship and healing in his ministry and music stems from God’s work of grace in his own life. Coming of age in the turbulent 1960’s and early 70’s, his call to Christ at the age of eighteen initiated him into a lifelong process of healing from early childhood trauma that plunged him into deep worship. “The backdrop of everything I do in life, ministry, music, and business is to draw people into a deeper sense of God’s love and His power to restore them fully to who He intended them to become,” Chisum says.
